Epoxy Injection for Foundation Crack Repair in Chattanooga

By Chattanooga Foundation Repair Co. · Chattanooga, TN · Updated June 2026

Epoxy injection is the professional method for permanently repairing structural foundation cracks in Chattanooga homes. Unlike surface patch products, epoxy injection fills the entire depth of the crack — from the interior face through to the exterior — creating a bond that is harder than the surrounding concrete.

The process: ports are installed along the crack at intervals, the crack face is sealed, and low-viscosity epoxy is injected at low pressure. The epoxy flows through the crack, fills any void, and bonds the two faces together as it cures. The result is a crack that is stronger than the original concrete at that location. Epoxy injection is used for structural cracks where restoring tensile strength matters — vertical cracks, diagonal settling cracks, and cold joints that have separated.

For cracks that are still actively moving (still widening slightly with seasonal clay movement), polyurethane foam is often used instead of epoxy. Polyurethane cures flexible and accommodates continued movement without re-cracking. Our inspector determines which material is appropriate based on the crack type, width, and activity. Both methods are completed without excavation, typically in 2–6 hours for a standard residential job.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my crack needs epoxy injection or polyurethane?

Stable cracks (no longer moving) typically use epoxy when structural strength restoration is needed. Active cracks (still widening seasonally) use polyurethane foam for its flexibility. Our inspection determines crack activity before specifying the repair material.

How long does epoxy cure in a foundation crack?

Epoxy injection typically reaches full cure in 24–72 hours at normal temperatures. The crack is sealed immediately upon injection — cure time affects final strength, not immediate performance.
